Hooboy. I'm just being obtuse at this point aren't I. Only really knowledgeable fans of the show will understand at what point in time Airdramon is referring to. And who that monstrosity actually is. But I need to save that for a different exposition scene for another character. For now those who know can whisper among themselves and those who don't can speculate!

Pft I'd be pretty pissed off too if I was a teenager, already weighed down with darksporeitis and had my brothers death (the nature of we're still not 100% on accident?/Suicide?) thrown at my face.

The digimon wiki lists airdramon as a wise and actually pretty intelligent digimon. Despite the toothy appearance. So no, I think when they'd seen the direction Ken was taking they would have asked wtf and denied him service, enraging Ken and causing him to use the dark rings to ensure they obeyed him.

But hey at least they aren't bitter about it either. They still care about him.
